Dear Families of Students,
Since 1969, the RYLA Northwest program has had the honor and privilege to teach leadership development to over 5400 students. This year, we’re proud to join forces with Rotarians in California to produce a unique, online RYLA program: RYLA Ascend. Students will work in teams with students from Western Washington; Vancouver Island, BC, CAN; and Fresno, CA to grow their leadership skills! Since students can’t leave their homes and schools to join us for a sleep-away program, we are designing a series of meetings and challenges throughout the month of March that students can attend around school schedules.
If you have reservations about the value of a virtual RYLA program, I assure you that this is not passive online learning. In fact, four of the students who attended the RYLA Northwest virtual conference in July have volunteered to return as facilitators. We are building on what we learned this past year to improve our ability to inspire and train young adult leaders.
